Nicaragua

Belgian photographer Michèle Sennesael (Ghent 1974) graduated as a photographer, followed by a bachelor of Communication and Media.

She worked in the IT field before dedicating herself to photography.

In 2008 she started to work as a photo editor for the biggest Belgium newspaper.         She decided to quit her job at the newspaper, followed het passion and began her career by photographing streetchildren in Nicaragua. She came up with the idea of running photography workshops for street kids and founded the Heroes project.
Spending several years in Nicaragua, she has been focusing her work in social contemporary issue, with a very intimate approach, using everyday life to discuss more general thematics.
